BIOGRAPHY

Blanche DuBois are sisters Nadija and Adriana Begovich. They’ve been making music together for the better part of a decade; forming their own label, Streetcar Productions, in 2002 and releasing their debut album – Raging Favourites – that same year to positive reviews across the country, including Rolling Stone Magazine who said: “there’s flashes of dark, distinctive beauty on the debut from the Perth outfit. They make acoustic mood music for rainy days and Mondays.”

Two EPs later – Slow Motion (2004) and Love Only Hurts (2005) – the band landed a deal with Australia’s largest independent music publisher, Mushroom Music Publishing.

2007 saw the release of their second full-length album, All The Things We Never Say, with ARIA Award winning producer Richard Pleasance at the helm. All The Things We Never Say was well-received by radio, with tracks "Dance Away the Day" and "Slow Motion" being added to national rotation across the NOVA FM network.

In between, Blanche DuBois toured Europe and Australia countless times and also supported the likes of Jewel, Sarah McLachlan, Ben Folds, Joe Cocker, Crosby Stills and Nash, Paul Kelly, Pete Murray, Kasey Chambers, Missy Higgins, The Whitlams and even The Bangles.

They worked with Sydney based producer Matt Fell on their latest record, Young Heart – a record which saw the sisters further develop their unique blend of acoustic pop come folktronica and received stellar reviews.

PRESS QUOTES

“…there’s flashes of dark, distinctive beauty…They make acoustic mood music for rainy days and Mondays.” - Rolling Stone Magazine, Australia

“There’s plenty to like in the orchestral sighs of Perth’s Blanche DuBois – sisters Nadija and Adriana Begovich. Their Young Heart is a deeply melodic and ever-so haunting album…” - Vogue Magazine, Australia

“Young Heart is an exploration of love, life and loss and, as cliché as these themes are, personal experiences often make the best songs. Pleasantly, nothing is overproduced, resulting in an array of honest and unblemished pop songs… in the end you’ll be saying ‘not another break-up album’ when in your head you’re clinging to every single word…” - Drum Media, Perth

Review

Perth duo Blanche DuBois’ new album, Young Heart, is like a more sophisticated take on “Part Of Me” by Katy Perry. The record is full of harrowing tales of heartbreak, regret and past mistakes.

Young Heart is all about trying to make sense of your life once you reach middle age and you realise that no one really cares about your Twitter account, or your News Feed, or your Tumblr. It’s an album for people who have gone through life with a sense of entitlement and have finally realised that they don’t inherently deserve anything. Life’s a bitch, huh?
